About

Mattia
Ferdeghini.

I'm from Bologna, and I studied mechanical engineering here. I love the city for its porticoes and its food, and it has a serious engineering tradition too.

At the Università di Bologna I took my bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (2021–2025), finishing with a thesis on energy efficiency in industrial mills. I like problems that need both math and intuition.

Outside engineering I play basketball (since 2009), cook Emilian food and have strong opinions on music.

Experience

  • Played professionally in the Italian Serie A. That level takes discipline, and it taught me to work in a team and perform under pressure. I still play today, at a non-professional level.

  • Intensive English courses and cultural immersion abroad, which improved my English and got me used to adapting to multicultural environments.

Education

  • My thesis applied mechanical engineering to a sustainability problem: an improved grinding-mill design for better energy efficiency. Advisor: Prof. Alessandra Bonoli.

Beyond work

The human side.

Outside engineering, these are the two things I spend my time on.

I've played basketball for as long as I can remember: seventeen seasons since 2009, one step at a time up to a Serie A debut in 2021.

Emilian through and through. I approach cooking a bit like engineering, with variables and a process to get right, except here you get to eat the prototype.
